The Infinite Drum Machine (Beats from Everyday Sounds)
An experiment from Google Creative Lab that arranges thousands of everyday recorded sounds into a map by similarity, then lets you build drum beats out of them. The raw material is ordinary noise rather than instruments.
How to try it
Press "START PLAYING" to open the sound map; clicking a dot plays that sound and shows its description and tags. Place the sounds you like into the sequencer grid below to build a looping beat. The first load takes a while as hundreds of sounds download, and Chrome is the recommended browser.
